Pizza Roll

This recipe came from What about pie? I found it on Pinterest. My mom tried the recipe first and told me to try it out because it was easy and tasted good. She also knows how much Drake and Xavier like pizza. We followed the recipe almost exactly, adding our own twist. The pictures include X as my little helper :)

Ingredients:
Frozen bread dough (1 loaf makes 1 pizza roll)
Olive Oil
Any toppings you like
Mozzarella cheese
Shredded Parmesan cheese
Italian seasoning
Garlic powder
Butter
Pizza sauce for dipping (optional)

Cover the dough lightly with plastic wrap and let sit for a few hours. This allows it to thaw and rise a little.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Roll out the dough approximately 11X11 in square
Brush dough with olive oil
Place toppings onto your pizza (we used pepperoni and salami)
Add mozzarella and parmesan cheeses
Sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder
Roll up the pizza from one end and place it into your pan
Brush melted butter to the top of your pizza roll
Cook in oven for 15-25 minutes or until bread is golden brown

Rolling the dough

Brushing with olive oil

Add pepperoni, and any other toppings you choose

Add mozzarella

add parmesan

Sprinkle with Italian seasoning

sprinkle a little garlic powder

Roll it up

Brush top with melted butter
We forgot to take a picture of the final product. The top of the bread should be golden brown when it is done. You can also leave it flat and make a normal pizza, or just fold it in half and you have a calzone. We will definitely be making this again. Maybe next time with more toppings.

Parade!

On Saturday (9/28) we went to our first parade as a family. Drake and I had never gone together and it was Xavier's very first parade. He seemed to like it OK. His favorite parts were the cars and horses. Like father like son. Xavier would point to any car that came by, even the ones pulling the floats. He was more excited for those than the floats themselves. Drake also liked all the cars (as you will see from the pictures, he was behind the camera). Neither of the boys payed much attention to the cheerleaders, gymnasts, or bands (which have always been my favorite part of a parade).

Xavier got some candy too. One girl walked up to him and handed him a bag of sour skittles. Who buys skittles for a parade? He was too occupied with the sucker he was already eating to really care about the skittles. It was a pretty clear day, so we all got sun burnt...oops! I forgot the sunscreen.

Tried to take a family picture, but Xavier didn't want to be a part of it.

The Ballet

Part of the ballet...not sure what was up with the mouse thing...
maybe the rat king from The Nutcracker?

Excited about something after the band...I don't remember what it was.

About me

Hi. My name is Renee Miller. I am new to blogging and already addicted! Why didn't I ever do this before? I wish I had more time to do it. I am a full time mom, even though I am not able to be home with my baby 24/7. My part time life includes going to school, being a wife, and doing things I love (such as baking, crafty things, and outdoor things).

I have been a mom since October 2011 to my handsome son. Xavier is a boys boy. He is always full of energy and loves to run and jump around. If he has a chance to get dirty, he will. He is also very smart! He is above average in his age group at all his check ups. We are expecting our second child, Isobel,  in November :) We are all eager to meet her.
UPDATE: Isobel was born on December 4, 2013

 Mom and Isobel

My husband and I have known each other since high school. We even walked at graduation together. We fell in love and got married. Now I have a walking partner for life :) He is a wonderful man, husband, and father. He is very loving and supportive. He is also handy and knows his way around cars. Recently he has discovered the redneck in him and has become a gun nut (not that I mind).

It poured at our graduation, so if we don't look happy to be graduation, it was just the rain. Trust me, we were very happy to be graduates!

As you can see, we were much happier on our wedding day! :)

Family Update 9/27

I am new to blogging. I have decided to start blogging as a hobby. I wanted a place to post all of my recipes and crafts that I have tried. I also wanted a place to express myself. This is perfect for just that. I will also be posting updates about our family, including pictures! :)

I am currently 31 weeks pregnant with our second child. It isn't too hard to sleep most nights. My lower back hurts almost all of the time. Now I am starting to feel pelvic pressure as well. Isobel is head down, as of my last doctors visit which was Thursday, 9/19. She also moves like crazy all day! I am at the point in my pregnancy where I feel very tired by the end of day.

Drake is working a lot these days. Most days our schedules are completely opposite one another that we hardly see each other anymore. When we are both home, I have homework to do or a test to study for. We make time for each other as often as we can. Usually we cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie after Xavier has gone to sleep. We have also watched a movie in theaters while X was in daycare. For our next date (when we find the time) we are planning on going out to the range for some target practice.

Xavier is almost 2! We are going to have a Thomas party for him. Dad got him sick sometime in the last few days. He was up all night tossing and turning with a fever. It was gone when he woke up this morning and stayed away all day. For the last 3 weeks (since 9/5) he has been sleeping with us. He goes down fairly easy at about 8:00 or 8:30, but wakes up between 10:00 and 11:00. Sometimes we are able to get him to go back to sleep in his bed until midnight or 2:00. Lately he has been refusing to go back to sleep unless he is laying in bed with me. I don't know why he has been doing this, but is very annoying. He sleeps right next to me so I can't move. It makes my back and pelvis/hips hurt worse the next morning. Hopefully it is just a phase that he grows out of quickly!
